The initiative aligns with India’s national cooperative vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation) and the broader objectives of White Revolution 2.0. By converting raw liquid milk surpluses into high-margin fermented products like curd and lassi, COMFED seeks to insulate smallholder producers from seasonal price volatility, strengthen local rural livelihoods, and enhance the overall competitiveness of Bihar’s cooperative dairy network.

COMFED Managing Director Shirsat Kapil Ashok highlighted significant operational progress made by the federation, noting the establishment of over 2,500 new village-level dairy cooperative societies across Bihar. This aggressive outreach expanded daily raw milk procurement by more than 300,000 litres compared to the previous year, demonstrating strong growth in rural milk collection and expanded producer participation, particularly among women dairy farmers through the Sudha Sakhi initiative.

To support downstream retail operations and logistics, state authorities distributed deep freezers to 300 retail vendors to strengthen Sudha’s cold chain distribution network. Additionally, eight specialized animal transport vehicles were flagged off, and foundation stones were laid for a COMFED-operated HPCL petrol station and a dedicated Sudha Cafeteria, integrating commercial services directly into the dairy project complex.
