During the coordinated inspection, food safety officials confiscated more than 1,000 litres of adulterated liquid milk alongside commercial-grade sealing machines, counterfeit packaging film, chemical additives, and unhygienic water storage containers. The seized milk stock was valued at several lakhs of rupees, with enforcement officers destroying large quantities of contaminated product on-site to prevent it from entering the retail supply chain.

The modus operandi uncovered by investigators involved procuring genuine, sealed milk pouches of reputed cooperative and private dairy brands—such as Amul, Mother Dairy, and Gokul—from early-morning distribution routes. The racket operators used razor blades or syringes to extract genuine milk from the pouches, substituted the volume with unpurified tap water, chemical thickeners, starch, or low-grade milk powders, and then resealed the packets using portable heating tools to mimic factory tamper-evident seals before supplying them to local retail shops and tea vendors.

Statutory samples of the seized milk were collected and dispatched to state food testing laboratories under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, to evaluate chemical composition and detect the presence of harmful neutralizers or microbial contaminants. First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against multiple key suspects under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and food safety legislation, with several individuals taken into police custody.
