Kuppam Area Development Authority signs critical modern farming MoUs with ITC and Visalakshi Innovations to scale logistics and food processing pipelines.
The Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) in Andhra Pradesh has officially signed two strategic memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at introducing advanced agricultural practices and drastically upgrading market access for local farmers. Formalized in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, this policy intervention targets a comprehensive modernization of the regional supply chain. By integrating advanced technology and modern cultivation methods, state authorities seek to significantly bolster crop yields and maximize rural income streams.
Under the first agreement, signed with conglomerate ITC, the region will witness the targeted development of dedicated fruit and vegetable clusters. This corporate alliance is set to build robust marketing linkages connecting regional producers directly to major metropolitan hubs, including Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. As part of this corporate expansion, ITC has committed an investment of ₹8 crore to establish controlled-environment infrastructure across 1,000 acres, driving a specialized export-oriented tomato operation with an aggregate production target of 10,000 tonnes.
The second MoU, executed between KADA and Visalakshi Innovations Sustainable Value Chain, focuses heavily on driving widespread farmer adoption of modern, sustainable agricultural protocols. These localized adjustments align with a massive influx of corporate capital into the Kuppam territory, which is rapidly emerging as a premier industrial hub. Currently, projects worth approximately ₹10,000 crore are positioned in the development pipeline, spanning critical high-value sectors such as poultry, dairy, and broader food processing.
Prominent corporate brands, including dairy major Mother Dairy, ABIS, and ITC, have actively stepped forward to anchor these large-scale investments in the region. This industrial push fits into a broader master plan for the Rayalaseema region, which has solidified its standing as a dominant hub for horticulture production. Chief Minister Naidu disclosed that a staggering ₹1 lakh crore in combined public and private capital will be deployed across the territory, with state funding prioritizing vital irrigation, roads, and logistics infrastructure while private enterprises drive value-added processing installations.
As the state government accelerates this multi-sector economic framework, adjacent infrastructure initiatives are being mobilized to ensure comprehensive regional development, including plans to extract gold deposits in Chigargunta within the Chittoor district. For international dairy analysts and global agribusiness monitors, the aggressive expansion of processing pipelines and infrastructure in southern India highlights an increasingly competitive landscape. The convergence of multinational food majors and state-backed supply chain integrations underscores a structural shift toward highly efficient, export-ready agricultural zones.
