CHANDIGARH:In a pro-farmers initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday had detailed parleys with the dairy farmers of the state during which he acceded to all of their genuine demands.

During the meeting held here at Chief Minister’s Office at Punjab Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister assured the dairy farmers that the state government is committed to ensure their well being. He said that the state government is leaving no stone unturned for ensuring that ever issue faced by the farmers is resolved at the earliest. Bhagwant Mann assured the dairy farmers that all of their pending arrears will be cleared by the government by September 15.

Dwelling on another issue, the Chief Minister apprised the dairy farmers about the steps being taken by the state government to check the lumpy skin disease amongst cattle. He said that a Group of Ministers (GoM) has already been constituted on the matter for effective monitoring and control of the disease on daily basis. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is duty bound to safeguard the interests of the cattle owners in the state.

The Chief Minister said that already a massive vaccination drive has been embarked to save the animals from the scourge of this disease. He said that this vaccination is being given to the animals free of cost adding that there is no dearth of funds for this. Bhagwant Mann unequivocally said that the best recommended medicine by Government of India (GoI) has been brought for this purpose.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is duly focusing on preventing and tackling this disease. He emphasized that cattle wealth is an integral part of state’s economy and Punjab government will take every step for ensuring that animals don’t fell prey to this disease. Bhagwant Mann assured fulsome support and cooperation to cattle owners for this purpose adding that the state government is conducting a comprehensive survey that will sent to the Government of India for further action.
