According to the report, members of the Prakasam Dairy Parirakshana Samithi submitted demands urging authorities to transfer control of the dairy to NDDB. The group claims the cooperative has faced operational and governance concerns that require intervention from a nationally recognized institution with experience in dairy sector management and cooperative development.

The issue has become politically sensitive as dairy cooperatives remain economically important across rural Andhra Pradesh. Farmer representatives warned that uncertainty surrounding the dairy’s future could impact milk procurement systems and producer incomes. Many small dairy farmers in the region depend on reliable collection and payment structures to sustain their livelihoods.

Supporters of the move believe NDDB involvement could modernize operations and strengthen the cooperative’s long-term sustainability. NDDB has historically played a major role in India’s dairy development through infrastructure investment, cooperative support, and milk value chain expansion. Advocates argue that bringing the organization into Prakasam Dairy could improve efficiency and restore trust among stakeholders.
