Leading Indian dairy manufacturer expands its summer portfolio across ice creams, regional fresh dairy, high-protein formulations, and ambient UHT milk lines to capture evolving consumer demand.
Indian dairy major Mother Dairy has unveiled a comprehensive seasonal product expansion featuring more than 30 new offerings across its value-added dairy product (VADP) portfolio. As reported by NuFFooDS Spectrum, the company is rolling out these innovations in a phased manner across retail and quick-commerce channels, aiming for a growth rate exceeding 30% across key product categories as consumer demand for ambient and cold-chain dairy accelerates nationwide.
The expansion is strategically structured around four consumer pillars: indulgence, proactive wellness, convenience, and regional taste profiles. In the frozen dessert segment, Mother Dairy is introducing approximately 20 stock-keeping units (SKUs). These include category-first packaging designs, such as two-in-one earthen Matka and tub formats, a premium ‘Crafted’ range, and on-trend impulse flavors like the Cream Cheese Pistachio Cone and Kulfi Cassata. Addressing demand for healthier snacking alternatives, the brand also debuted its ‘Go-Low’ low-calorie line, offering options such as Choco Almond, Shahi Mewa, and Kesar Pista Tilla Kulfi.
In fresh and fermented dairy, the brand is strengthening its geographic presence through targeted regional launches:
-
Regional Fresh Dairy: Launching Jamun Yoghurt and Bhuna Jeera Raita, introducing three new Shrikhand variants tailored for western states, and expanding distribution of Meethi Dahi across northern urban centers.
Proactive Nutrition & Protein: Expanding its functional ‘Pro’ line with Procurd and Propaneer—fortified, high-protein curd and paneer variants engineered for health-conscious consumers and gym-goers seeking natural dairy proteins.
Ambient UHT Expansion: Broadening long-life Cow Milk and Standardised Milk carton availability into non-traditional and geographically complex markets, such as Jammu & Kashmir, where cold-chain logistics remain challenging.
Jayatheertha Chary, Managing Director of Mother Dairy, emphasized that continuous product formulation and packaging innovation serve as primary levers for top-line expansion: “Building on our strong legacy of bringing together taste, nutrition and innovation, we are excited to unveil our expansive summer portfolio this year. Product innovation continues to be a key driver of our growth strategy, and these new introductions reflect our commitment to staying ahead of evolving consumer needs across age groups and consumption occasions. With rising temperatures across the country, we anticipate more than 30% growth across key categories.”
From a dairy processing and portfolio economics perspective, Mother Dairy’s aggressive focus on VADP aligns with broader shifts in the Indian dairy processing landscape. While liquid pouch milk continues to provide high processing volumes, value-added segments—particularly frozen desserts, fermented yogurts, and protein-fortified dairy—generate substantially higher gross margins. By coupling impulse-driven indulgence products with high-protein staples and ambient UHT packaging, processors can optimize processing milk solids, manage seasonal flush-lean inventory transitions, and defend market share against regional private-label brands.
