PM Modi's Farm Boost 9,000 Direct Cash for Bihar Farmers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces the PM-KISAN benefit will be increased by an additional ₹3,000 from the Bihar government, alongside the launch of the Bihar Dairy Mission to support livestock farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant announcement for farmers in Bihar, confirming an immediate and substantial increase in direct financial aid. Under the existing central scheme, the Union Government provides ₹6,000 annually to small farmers through the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi. Modi declared on Sunday that the new NDA government in Bihar would supplement this amount with an additional ₹3,000, raising the total yearly benefit for the state’s farmers to ₹9,000. This increased support is intended to provide greater financial stability to the agricultural community.

Beyond direct financial assistance, the Prime Minister highlighted a new strategic focus on the state’s livestock sector. To increase the income of livestock farmers in Bihar, the state government has officially announced the launch of the ‘Bihar Dairy Mission’. This initiative indicates a clear policy direction aimed at fostering growth and modernization within the dairy segment, seeking to capitalize on the sector’s potential to strengthen the rural economy.

Modi used the address to emphasize the tangible positive outcomes of current NDA government policies within the state’s agricultural industry. He pointed out that Bihar, which historically relied on importing fish from other states, has now reversed this trend. In the present time, Bihar is successfully selling fish to other states, a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of the government’s development policies and a success story for local producers and fisheries.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister utilized the platform to draw a political contrast with the opposition, the Mahagathbandhan. He accused the rival alliance of having presented a manifesto that was a “document full of lies, deceit, and attempts to mislead the public,” referring to them as a “bunch of lies” and the era they represented as “jungle raj.” Modi insisted that the public is discerning, stating, “this is the public; they know everything.”

In closing, Modi contrasted the opposition’s document with the NDA’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ (resolution document), affirming that the latter contains strong, honest provisions. He specified that the NDA’s plan includes concrete measures aimed at improving children’s education, family healthcare, employment opportunities for the youth, and, critically, enhanced irrigation facilities for farmers. The announcements were made ahead of the two-phase voting for Bihar’s 243-seat Assembly, which is scheduled for November 6 and 11.
