Nestlé is reinforcing its long-term commitment to China, highlighting the country’s fast-evolving consumer market and strong potential for growth in dairy, nutrition, and food innovation. Speaking at the China Development Forum 2026, CEO Philipp Navratil emphasized that China is not only a key market but also a source of inspiration for global product development.

The company sees China transitioning from a phase of incremental consumption growth to a leadership role in innovation, particularly in food, beverages, and technology. Rapid shifts in consumer behavior and the adoption of artificial intelligence are shaping demand patterns, creating new opportunities for dairy and nutrition companies to innovate and scale.

Nestlé’s strategy is closely aligned with China’s economic priorities, including boosting domestic consumption and advancing sustainability. The company works directly with local dairy and coffee farmers, supporting regenerative agriculture practices and decarbonization efforts, while strengthening its supply chain resilience through local sourcing.

With nearly four decades of presence in China, Nestlé operates 23 factories and produces more than 90% of its products locally, sourcing a similar share of ingredients domestically. This localized model supports efficiency, reduces exposure to global supply disruptions, and enhances competitiveness in the domestic dairy and food markets.

Looking ahead, innovation and digitalization remain central to Nestlé’s growth strategy. The company is leveraging AI to optimize production, accelerate product development, and refine consumer targeting. Combined with strong local brands and increasing global reach, this positions Nestlé to capture long-term value in China’s expanding dairy and nutrition sectors.
