The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), following a site visit and directives from the State’s Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chandra Kumar Chaudhary, has accelerated work, with roughly 40 % of construction still pending. Officials project that the plant’s construction should be completed by the end of July 2026, keeping the opening timeline on track for early August if progress continues.

The facility — backed by an estimated ₹225 crore investment on roughly 76 kanals of land — was initially inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in January 2025. Once fully operational, the plant will produce a diverse range of dairy products, including curd, lassi, butter, ghee, paneer, flavored milk, khoya and mozzarella, catering to both local consumption and broader market needs.

Stakeholders anticipate that the new processing capacity will deliver direct economic benefits to about 35,000 milk producers across five districts, strengthening dairy value chains in Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una. Local officials underscore how the facility’s completion will enhance dairy collection, quality control, and product distribution throughout the region.
