Gujarat's Dairy Co-ops Set National Benchmark Model

CM Patel champions ₹4 lakh crore cooperative economy at landmark Amreli Sahkar Se Samriddhi program.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in a groundbreaking “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity Through Cooperation) program alongside the Annual General Meeting of Amreli’s cooperative institutions, organized under the leadership of NCUI and IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani. The landmark event united key dairy and agricultural cooperatives including Amreli District Central Cooperative Bank, Amar Dairy, and the District Cooperative Union, bringing together farmers, cattle rearers, cooperative members, parliamentarians, and industry leaders to showcase Gujarat’s ₹4 lakh crore cooperative economy as a national development model.

CM Patel traced Gujarat’s cooperative movement legacy to the freedom struggle era, emphasizing the foundational contributions of Mahatma Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj philosophy and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s pioneering efforts to unite farmers through innovative milk cooperative structures. He highlighted how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration has reinvigorated the cooperative sector through the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation, positioning Gujarat’s cooperative institutions as exemplary models that empower farmers, women, and rural communities while driving socio-economic transformation across India.

IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani praised the Amreli initiative as a watershed moment in India’s cooperative history, declaring that “Sahkar se Samriddhi is not merely a pledge, it is a reality whose success is evident here.” Sanghani emphasized that the Amreli model demonstrates how cooperative unity accelerates regional development, establishing benchmarks for other states through transformative initiatives including Kisan Credit Cards, farmer housing loans, comprehensive insurance schemes, and sustainable agricultural practices featuring nano fertilizers that enhance productivity while protecting environmental resources.

The comprehensive day-long program featured the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi – Sahakar Parishvad” conference, focusing on the cooperative sector’s growth trajectory, future expansion opportunities, and its central role in inclusive socio-economic empowerment. CM Patel actively participated in tree plantation activities under PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” environmental campaign, while promoting the “Vocal for Local” initiative to strengthen rural economies by encouraging citizens to prioritize indigenous products during festival seasons.

Practical cooperative initiatives took center stage as micro-ATMs were distributed to rural cooperatives and government insurance scheme beneficiaries received direct financial support, demonstrating the tangible impact of cooperative development programs. The event showcased Amreli’s thriving cooperative ecosystem that successfully blends economic progress with social responsibility under Dileep Sanghani’s visionary leadership and CM Patel’s strategic guidance, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a national forerunner in the cooperative revolution and inspiring sustainable, inclusive development models across India’s agricultural landscape.
