Jamshedpur: M.Com semester-4 students from Karim City College, Jamshedpur, embarked on an insightful industrial visit to Jamshedpur Dairy, gaining valuable hands-on exposure to the dairy industry. The visit was organized by the college’s PG Department of Commerce under the leadership of HOD, Dr. Md. Moazzam Nazri, with the aim of bridging the gap between theoretical learning and its practical application in the dairy sector.
During the visit, students were provided with a comprehensive overview of Jamshedpur Dairy’s history and operations, which function under the Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (COMFED). They were guided through the stages of milk processing, including pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging, while the dairy’s stringent quality control measures for ensuring product safety were emphasized.
One of the key takeaways for the students was observing the application of modern machinery and automation techniques, which enable the dairy to maintain high efficiency and meet growing consumer demand. The students also learned about the cooperative’s role in supporting local farmers by providing a reliable platform for milk procurement, often from surplus production, further enhancing the local economy.
Jamshedpur Dairy’s marketing executive, procurement head, and testing head provided in-depth insights into the production processes and the diverse range of products manufactured, including milk, curd, paneer, and peda.
