Production costs increase for milk

The Commerce Ministry is expected to consider and approve an increase in boxed milk prices if producers submit their requests for an adjustment, in line with higher raw milk production costs.

Milk prices may remain painfully high for at least few more months

Rising out-of-home milk consumption and cattle feed prices are not the only reasons for the increase in procurement costs, the heatwave is equally to be blamed, a report by ICICI Securities has said, highlighting how inflation will make dairy companies raise prices in the coming months.

Dairy farming: Policy intervention needed to prop up farmers

Dairy farming has a key role in accelerating the growth of the agriculture sector and providing nutritious dairy products to the masses. The Rajasthan Government, under its Mukhyamantri Dugdh Utpadak Sambal Yojana, is providing an incentive of Rs 5/litre of milk to over 9 lakh farmers associated with milk cooperative societies. On similar lines, the Punjab Government should support dairy farmers by giving subsidies on input costs and cash incentives on production.
