UNAccc launches cow-based economy summit in Rajasthan to boost dairy farmer incomes, rural jobs, milk marketing and sustainable agriculture.
India Pushes Cow-Based Economy to Boost Dairy Farmers

UNAccc’s Global Summit in Rajasthan targets sustainable dairy growth, rural jobs, and value-added cow products.

The Global Cow Based Economy Summit, organised by UNAccc in Shri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, aims to reposition cow rearing as a sustainable economic model capable of strengthening farmer incomes and rural livelihoods. The initiative places dairy farming at the center of a broader strategy linking milk production, marketing, employment generation and environmentally friendly practices.

UNAccc leaders highlighted that the summit will serve as a platform to connect farmers, cow owners, policymakers and global experts, fostering dialogue on how cow-based systems can deliver long-term rural prosperity. Discussions will focus on improving milk production efficiency, strengthening dairy marketing channels and expanding opportunities for value-added cow-based products.

The groundwork for the summit was laid during a web meeting held on January 18, led by Dr. Rajat Sharma, Founder President of UNAccc, and Dr. Kamal Taori, its Director. Senior public figures and administrators, including Dr. Vallabh Bhai Katheriya, founder of Gau Tech, and former IPS and IAS officials, contributed perspectives on policy, governance and implementation.

Participants also referenced Rajasthan government initiatives such as the Gau Palak Protsahan Yojana and Pashu Samridhi Yojana, which are designed to incentivize cow rearing and strengthen livestock-based rural economies. These schemes were presented as complementary tools that can accelerate adoption of cow-based economic models at scale.

According to UNAccc, a cow-based economy delivers multiple benefits: greater economic stability for farmers, job creation in rural areas, environmental conservation through organic manure and biogas, and health benefits from dairy products such as milk, ghee and paneer. For the international dairy community, the initiative reflects India’s effort to integrate sustainability, dairy value chains and rural development into a unified growth framework.
