Chief Minister Sukhu Announces Karsog Processing Facility and Key Infrastructure Upgrades Amid Claims of Rising Milk Prices and Political Opposition.

The government of Himachal Pradesh is making a strategic investment in the state’s dairy sector, with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announcing the construction of a new milk processing plant in the Karsog Assembly Constituency. This initiative is central to the administration’s broader push to strengthen the rural economy and directly benefit the farming community. The Chairman of Milkfed, Buddhi Singh Thakur, highlighted the existing success of this focus, noting that the income of animal farmers has already seen a significant boost due to a ₹21 per liter rise in milk prices over the past two years, with Milkfed now procuring 3 lakh liters of milk daily, up from 90,000 liters previously.

In addition to the dairy plant, the Chief Minister announced a suite of essential infrastructure and educational projects for Karsog, including a new 66 KV substation and the commencement of CBSE affiliation for GSSS Karsog and other schools from the next financial year. Crucially, the government plans to upgrade the ITI building, soon introducing courses in AI and machine learning, while also assuring the immediate appointment of a radiologist at Karsog Hospital. These projects are intended to modernize the constituency’s educational and technical capabilities, supporting both the agribusiness and wider societal needs.

The Chief Minister used the public address to launch sharp criticism against the previous BJP government and current Central Government opposition, accusing them of creating political hindrances to the state’s financial stability. Sukhu claimed the Centre has withheld both financial assistance following the introduction of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and a ₹1,600 crore loan limit. Furthermore, he alleged the previous administration squandered public money on unnecessary infrastructure projects—such as a ₹40 crore ITI building with only 18 students—and that the current government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption.

CM Sukhu defended the government’s development record by citing improvements in both the health and education sectors. Despite the monsoon disaster that caused significant losses, the government has allocated ₹7 lakh each for the rehabilitation of 94 completely damaged homes. Furthermore, he noted that the State’s ranking in quality education has surged from 21st place in 2021 to fifth place today, following a systematic approach that included the recruitment of 3,000 teachers out of a planned 6,000. Health reforms include the installation of modern medical equipment, the recruitment of 200 doctors (with 200 more planned), and the introduction of robotic surgeries at major medical colleges.

To further bolster the rural economy, the government is implementing a system of Minimum Support Prices for natural farming products, including procuring wheat at ₹60/kg, maize at ₹40/kg, and raw turmeric at ₹90/kg. These direct purchase incentives, coupled with an ₹80 increase in MNREGA wages over two years, demonstrate the government’s commitment to injecting liquidity into the farming community. The series of announcements, from dairy processing to medical and technical upgrades, signals a significant state-led investment to drive modernization and welfare across the Karsog region.
