Bicholim: On the occasion of ‘Gorvancho Padvo’, chief minister Pramod Sawant urged cattle owners not to let their animals roam on the streets and asked them to utilise govt’s subsidy of Rs 600 per day for maintaining a herd of four.
Road accidents due to stray animals are a major issue in Goa, said Sawant while addressing the gathering after worshipping a cow at Gomanchal Dairy at Kudne, Bicholim, on Saturday.
“Being of service to a cow is the service of God and the joy from it is incomparable,” said Sawant.
“People should care for cows instead of leaving them on the streets. Govt provides a subsidy of Rs 150 per cattle per day,” he said.
