UBT workers try to stop milk trucks to Pune & Mumbai

Shiv Sena (UBT) workers staged a protest at the gate of Gokul Dudh Sangh plant at Gokul Shirgaon and tried to stop tankers carrying milk to Pune and Mumbai on Saturday.

The Sena workers said the cooperative should pay Rs 36 per litre for cow milk supplied by farmers. The agitators were detained by the police.

Some months ago, Gokul had reduced the cow milk procurement rate to Rs34 per litre.

Shiv Sena district president Sanjay Pawar said, “Since the past 10-15 days, we have been discussing with the milk union operators. We told them why the farmers desreved a better price. As there was no response from these union leaders, we had staged the protest. If the milk procurement prices are not increased to Rs36, we will intensify our agitation”.

Keeping the Shiv Sena protest in mind, the Gokul dairy administration collected milk two hours earlier than the schedule on Saturday.
