She had no idea how the milk business works. But now she heads India’s first and the oldest dairy cooperative society (DCS).

Meet 44-year-old Gayatri Patel, who plunged into the animal husbandry business with just five calves in 2016.

Besides owning Vansh Dairy Farm which has 80 animals including 40 cows and 40 calves, Gayatri is the first woman to head the Ajarpura Milk Producers Co-operative Society Limited, the country’s first DCS.
