A grand Farmer Cooperation Conference was organized on Sunday at the Goverdhan Campus of the Udaipur Dairy Cooperative Union. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, as the chief guest.
The president of the Dairy Union, Shri Dalchand Dangi, along with Managing Director Shri Vipin Sharma and other board members, extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries with garlands and ceremonial scarves.
New Initiatives Proposed
During his address, Shri Dalchand Dangi detailed the activities and progress of the union and presented a comprehensive proposal for establishing:
A new dairy plant with a daily capacity of 3 lakh liters.
A cattle feed plant with a capacity of 150 tons per day in Udaipur.
The request was submitted to the honorable Punjab Governor and the Minister of Animal Husbandry for their support in these projects.
Keynote by Governor Kataria
Governor Kataria emphasized strengthening the economic status of dairy farmers by ensuring direct benefit transfers (DBT) of price difference payments to their bank accounts, bypassing cooperative societies. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the quality of milk and dairy products amidst market competition.
Insights from Minister Kumawat
Honorable Minister for Animal Husbandry, Shri Zoraram Kumawat, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Udaipur Dairy Union. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue subsidies on milk and suggested transferring price difference payments directly to producers’ accounts. Additionally, he urged farmers to exclusively sell their milk to cooperative societies to maximize benefits.
The minister also provided detailed information about various welfare schemes for livestock farmers, such as:
Dairy Animal Insurance Scheme
Gopalak Card Scheme
Kisan Credit Card Scheme
Mobile Veterinary Services
He assured strict action against milk adulteration and pledged efforts to include the proposed projects in the upcoming budget.
Encouraging Livelihood Opportunities
Honorable Tribal Development Minister Shri Babulal Kharadi highlighted the potential of dairy and livestock farming as robust sources of employment and livelihood in rural areas. Similarly, Rural MLA Shri Phoolsingh Meena expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for subsidies on milk and crop insurance payouts, emphasizing the need to improve farmers’ economic conditions.
