Sumul Dairy has increased the purchase price of cattle milk (both cow and buffalo) by Rs 10 per kg fat from milk producers in Surat and Tapi districts due to increase in cattle feed prices.

The extension came into effect from Monday.

This is the third time since April that the dairy raised the price per fat for cattle farmers. The decision was taken after a meeting of dairy authorities on Saturday.

Sumul Dairy Authority said it procures around 14 lakh liters of milk per day from around 2 lakh cattle herders in Surat and Tapi districts. It pays Rs 8 crore daily to cattle rearers. The dairy authority has set up 1,200 mandals in various taluks of the district to collect milk from cattle herders. “Earlier the price of buffalo milk was Rs 740 per kg. Now it will be Rs 750. Similarly, cow milk fat was priced at Rs 725 per kg earlier which will be Rs 735,” Sumul Dairy chairman Mansingh Patel told The Indian. to express. “We pay 85 per cent (of the cost) to the cattle rearers and keep the remaining 15 per cent for milk processing and other charges. Currently, we have not decided to increase the price of milk supplied to consumers,” he added.
