India has several stories of entrepreneurs who started their ventures with fewer resources and then went on to become successful in their fields. One of those businessmen is the late Ch Ved Ram Nagar, the founder of the Paras Dairy. Known as the “milk king” in the dairy farm industry, Ved Ram started his journey by selling 50-60 litres of milk per day. He soon made great strides in this field and went on to establish Paras company which now sells 36 lakh liters of milk per day. Paras has offered stiff competition to other popular dairy brands like Amul and Mother Dairy as well.

Born in 1933, Ved Ram Nagar started working as a milk seller at 27 and built the first firm in 1980. After this, in 1984, he established a unit for manufacturing milk and its products. In 1986, he started a company by the name of VRS Food and in 1987, set up the first big milk plant in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad.

Ved Ram Nagar died in 2005 and the name of his company was changed to Vedram & Sons Private Limited in 2008. It is now called Paras and is one of the most popular dairy brands in Delhi-NCR. Apart from the dairy farm business, the company has been involved in other business ventures as well. These ventures include health care, real estate, education medicine production etc.
