An International Workshop on ‘Strategies for Better Productivity in Dairy and Goat Farming” was organized at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), here today. The workshop was organized in collaboration with PUM Netherlands Senior Experts, a body promoting entrepreneurship in the dairy sector.

The experts, said Principal, KCVAS, Dr. HK Verma, is a voluntary organization based in the Netherlands with a central focus to create a positive impact on the economy, environment, and society of emerging and developing countries globally. With an extensive network of voluntary experts, PUM provides knowledge to suit the demands of each entrepreneur and promotes sustainable growth of small and medium sized enterprises in 35 countries worldwide, said he.

The expert delegates from PUM, Adrianus Merks, Senior Expert Dairy and Goat, Gerrit Brummelman, Sector Coordinator, and KR Jain, PUM Representative India, jointly shared the common practices of farmers in the Netherlands, and the added advantages of rearing goats and dairy animals in a systemic and economical way.

They presented the possibilities of new enterprises of both small and medium sized sustainable farming which will benefit the farmers of Punjab. The experts interacted with the farmers and students providing solutions and advice

Dr. H.K. Verma welcomed the guests and presented a keynote lecture on the current issues faced by small and marginalized dairy and goat farmers in India highlighting the farmers of Punjab and the weaknesses and areas of improvements that can be implemented in farming practices.
