When farmers will start saying they cannot produce food anymore says Food Policy Analyst Devinder Sharma

Speaking on the state of farmers across the globe, Devinder Sharma, Food Policy Analyst, Researcher, and Writer said that soon a stage will come when farmers will start saying they cannot produce food anymore.

On his official LinkedIn, Devinder Sharma shared various forms of farmers’ agitation that are taking place across the globe.

“It happened in Northern Ireland some time back when dairy farmers held a protest carrying banners that said loudly that the distress prices supermarkets were offering to farmers it will not be possible to feed the people. Meanwhile, Farmers For Action (FFA) in Northern Ireland has published a report, On Life Support, from Paul Gosling, an economist.

The report calls for legislative intervention to protect farmers and the fair pricing of agricultural produce and is asking for a Farm Welfare Bill to be introduced in Northern Ireland. Earlier, Confederation Psyanne, a small farmers organisation in France had met the Prime Minister and asked for a legislation to ensure a guaranteed cost of production with social costs included.
