State cabinet approves infrastructure expansion and appoints a machinery firm to execute key dairy development initiatives.
The government of Uttar Pradesh has approved a series of dairy development projects aimed at strengthening milk production and processing infrastructure across the state. The initiatives were cleared by the state cabinet as part of broader efforts to expand the dairy sector and support farmers involved in milk supply chains.
Under the approved plan, the authorities have appointed Indian Dairy Machinery Company Limited as the implementing agency responsible for executing the projects. The company will oversee the installation of dairy processing infrastructure and related equipment required to modernize operations.
The projects are designed to improve milk collection, processing capacity, and cold-chain logistics. By upgrading infrastructure and introducing modern technology, policymakers aim to strengthen the efficiency of the dairy value chain and reduce post-collection losses.
Officials say the investments are intended to increase farmer participation in organized dairy networks and create better market access for milk producers. The expansion of processing facilities is also expected to support the production of value-added dairy products and improve returns across the supply chain.
For the broader dairy industry, the move highlights India’s continued push to modernize its milk sector through infrastructure development and public-private partnerships. Strengthening processing capacity and logistics is seen as a key step in sustaining the country’s position as the world’s largest milk producer while improving rural incomes.
