Unionized farmers to rally and stage road blockades in Maharashtra State July 28. Increased security, transport disruptions likely.

Unionized farmers affiliated with the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) will rally across Maharashtra State July 28 to demand several concessions and condemn low milk prices offered to dairy producers. As a part of their action, activists will stage road blockades from Rahuri, Ahmednagar District, and will reportedly rally outside an Agricultural Produce Market Committee office in an undisclosed location, starting at 10:00. Organizers have additionally threatened to cease dairy supply operations in Maharashtra if their demands remain unmet.
