CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Welfare Association has announced that a continuous milk strike will start on October 28th in an effort to raise the price of milk.

The milk producers of Aavin have been requesting the government for more than 4 years to raise the price of milk. If the government does not comply with their demands by the 26, the Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Welfare Association has stated that they will begin a continuous milk strike across Tamil Nadu on October 28.

A consultation meeting regarding this was held in Salem today. It was determined during this meeting to stage protests from November 17 to November 20 in the districts of Salem, Erode, Madurai, Tiruchy, and Kallakurichi to bring the demands of milk producers to the notice of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Additionally, they have asked the government to raise the purchasing prices for dairy producers of cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 42 per litre and buffalo milk from Rs 41 to Rs 51 per litre. Milk producers have said that if this if this milk embargo continues, the production of 33 lakh liters of milk per day will be affected.
