DairyKhata’s AI-powered vision to revolutionize Indian dairy farming, doubling farmer income through digital empowerment.
DairyKhata, an innovative AI-first dairy tech platform, is spearheaded by founder Venugopal Naidu Puvvada with an ambitious vision: to empower 80 million dairy farmers across India. Despite India being the world’s largest milk producer, its sector grapples with inefficiencies, cattle neglect, and a significant lack of tech-driven support. DairyKhata aims to bridge this gap, offering a powerful digital ecosystem designed for ease of use and profit doubling for farmers and Gaushala Sanchalaks (cow shelter managers).
The inspiration for DairyKhata emerged from a personal observation of abandoned non-milking cows, highlighting how these animals, once assets, become liabilities without proper management. After extensive research spanning three years and interacting with thousands of gaupaalaks (cow rearers), Naidu developed DairyKhata. The platform now handles over 2.5 million animal records, tracks 500,000 liters of milk production daily, and manages over ₹100 crore (approximately $12 million USD) in annual farmer transactions, demonstrating its significant impact on dairy economics.
DairyKhata provides a suite of features accessible via basic smartphones, enabling farmers to gain unprecedented control over their operations. Key functionalities include a cattle health dashboard, timely vaccination reminders, bloodline details, multi-cattle tracking for Gaushala management, and comprehensive income-expense logs with real-time alerts. Farmers can precisely calculate the cost of raising each cow and the profit per liter of milk, allowing for data-driven decision-making at the grassroots level.
Venugopal Naidu’s vision directly aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of doubling farmer income. By helping farmers manage input costs and improve productivity, DairyKhata enables substantial monthly savings of ₹1,200–₹1,500 per cow by reducing medical emergencies, eliminating human errors, and optimizing feed planning. This translates to an annual saving of ₹18,000 (approximately $215 USD) per cow, showcasing the immense potential for agribusiness innovation in India.
DairyKhata is more than just a product; it’s a movement fostering a “Gau-based economic model” where every cow becomes an asset, not a burden. With active users in 20 Indian states and plans for international expansion into the Middle East and European countries, DairyKhata aims to be the world’s most farmer-friendly dairy tech platform. By 2027, the goal is to digitize 50 million cows, aiming for a ₹10,000 crore (approximately $1.2 billion USD) economic impact through optimized productivity, savings, and improved cattle welfare, merging tradition with technology for empowered dairy entrepreneurs.
