Karnataka Milk Federation shatters records, achieving ₹46 crore in festive sales—a 38% increase over the previous year.
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), operating the highly recognizable ‘Nandini’ brand, has broken all previous sales records during the recent Dasara and Deepavali festive season, showcasing the immense market demand for its value-added dairy products. KMF successfully sold an unprecedented 1,100 tonnes of sweets, achieving a total business turnover of ₹46 crore. This monumental achievement reflects the trust customers place in the purity and quality of the cooperative’s products, reinforcing ‘Nandini’ as a trustworthy name across various markets.
This year’s stellar performance marks a significant leap in the cooperative’s growth trajectory and highlights the booming demand within the festive Indian market. The ₹46 crore turnover surpassed the previous year’s festive sales of ₹33.48 crore from 724 tonnes of sweets, equating to a remarkable 38 percent year-over-year increase in business. Having set an ambitious target of 1,000 tonnes, KMF’s ability to exceed this goal underscores the strong strategic planning and early preparation by the federation and its extensive network.
KMF stands as a giant in India’s dairy cooperative sector, ranking as the second largest in the nation and the largest in South India. The cooperative network collects approximately one crore litres of milk daily across the state. Out of this massive daily procurement, about 65 lakh litres of milk and milk-based items, including curd, are efficiently distributed both within Karnataka and across several neighboring states, demonstrating significant logistical and supply chain prowess.
The cooperative’s market reach is substantial, utilizing the popular ‘Nandini’ brand to market an expansive portfolio of 175 products. These offerings go far beyond liquid milk and include high-demand categories such as ghee, butter, paneer, milk powder, and milk shakes, in addition to the successful line of festive sweets. These products are distributed to key Indian states including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Delhi, and Assam, showcasing its national footprint.
The success, hailed as a “remarkable achievement” by the Animal Husbandry Minister, is ultimately a testament to the dedication of the entire dairy farming community in Karnataka. The federation’s strong performance during this key retail period validates the cooperative model’s effectiveness in converting raw milk into high-margin, value-added products. This strategic focus on processing and marketing is a blueprint for stable revenue generation and maintaining robust dairy economics within the state’s agriculture sector.
