Indore Cooperative Dugdh Sangh, that markets packaged milk Sanchi, has increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, effective from May 7.
One litre packet of full cream gold milk will now cost Rs 67 per litre, and half a litre of the same variant will cost Rs 34 per litre.
“We have hiked milk prices by Rs 2 per litre. The revised prices will be implemented across all variants of 1 and half litre packaging. The hike was introduced because the procurement cost has gone up and rates given to farmers have also increased,” said the cooperative sangh chief executive officer Balbir Sharma.
Recently, other milk brands Amul and Mother Dairy have also increased prices of milk, citing a jump in rearing and overall input costs.
The last price hike by Sanchi was 8 months ago and of Rs 2 per litre.
The suppliers of loose milk in Indore also increased the milk prices by Rs 2 per litre from March 1. Indore Dugdh Vikreta Sangh, an association of dairy owners, milk suppliers and traders, cited high cattle feed prices and input cost as the reason for increasing the consumer price for milk.
