Rajasthan boosts dairy incomes with sweet-making training, interest-free youth loans, and new Saras Dairy outlets to expand rural jobs and value addition.
Rajasthan Links Dairy Sweet Training to Youth Loan Push

Interest-free credit, skills training, and new dairy outlets aim to raise farm incomes and expand rural employment.

The government of Rajasthan plans to train dairy farmers in producing traditional milk-based sweets such as mawa and peda, enabling producers to diversify within the dairy value chain and generate higher self-employment income. The initiative focuses on strengthening on-farm entrepreneurship by transforming raw milk into value-added dairy products with stronger market potential.

State Cabinet Minister Joraram Kumawat said the programme forms part of a broader budget strategy designed to connect young people with enterprise opportunities. Under this framework, youth will gain access to interest-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh, providing startup capital to launch small businesses linked to dairy, food processing, and related rural industries.

Officials highlighted Rajasthan’s large livestock base—around 7.14 crore animals—and strong milk production as key economic assets. By converting milk into sweets and other processed goods, dairy households are expected to improve profitability, stabilize incomes, and expand participation in local food markets.

Beyond farm-level initiatives, the state also outlined employment measures targeting young people. Authorities aim to create government jobs for 400,000 youth while connecting another 600,000 to private-sector work, reinforcing a dual pathway of public employment and entrepreneurship under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Anti-addiction centres are also planned to support social stability alongside economic development.

Additional budget measures include opening 500 new Saras Dairy booths, distributing free school uniforms, providing no-cost transport for deceased patients from hospitals to homes, establishing district-level “Namo Nursery” facilities, and improving regional water connectivity between dams. Together, these actions reflect a comprehensive rural development strategy in Rajasthan that links dairy value addition, youth employment, and public welfare.
