Pune Katraj Dairy Increases Milk Prices by Rs 2 per Litre

Katraj Dairy, operated by the Pune District Milk Union, has raised milk selling prices by Rs 2 per litre starting 12th May.
Managing Director Manoj Limaye stated that the price hike was approved unanimously by the board of directors due to increased procurement costs, rising transportation expenses, and other operational costs.
This is the second price increase within a year, following a similar Rs 2 rise in March last year. The current increase will affect Pune residents as milk prices now stand at Rs 74 per litre for full cream milk, up from Rs 72, and Rs 64 per litre for standardized milk, up from Rs 62.
The dairy administration explained that summer conditions have led to a drop in milk collection, while demand for dairy products has risen. Additionally, the cost of milk production has increased due to fodder and water shortages during the hot season, necessitating higher payments to farmers.
Limaye emphasized, “Due to the rise in procurement and transportation costs, it became necessary to increase the milk selling price.”
