Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to inquire and submit a report on the irregularities that took place in the state-run Vijaya Dairy during the previous regime.
Sources in the CMO said Revanth Reddy received complaints that BRS former minister T Harish Rao had ensured that his relatives, who had private dairies, allegedly got the milk supplies from Vijaya Dairy for supply to govt hostels, residential schools and hospitals.
It was reportedly done without inviting tenders for milk supply to govt institutions.
Responding to the complaints, the CM told the officials to inquire and submit a comprehensive report on losses incurred by Vijaya Dairy, how much the previous govt paid to farmers for their milk supply to the dairy, and incentives promised to them, arrears left unpaid to dairy farmers and other details at the earliest.
On the other hand, BRS leader and former agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy accused the Congress govt of not paying dues to Vijaya Dairy farmers only to benefit a private dairy owned by family members of AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
