Odisha Unveils Matsya-Pranee Samavesh 2026

Three-day fisheries and livestock conclave aims to empower farmers with tech, income and innovation.

Odisha’s government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has inaugurated the three-day Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha 2026 in Bhubaneswar, a major state-level event spotlighting modern interventions in fisheries, livestock and dairy aimed at driving rural prosperity and farm incomes. The conclave runs from January 21–23 at Janata Maidan under the theme “Innovative Interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha.”

The event is designed to be a comprehensive platform for awareness, technology adoption and stakeholder engagement, drawing participation from more than 8,000 farmers and entrepreneurs, including fish farmers, livestock rearers and women self-help group members. Organisers have planned interactive seminars, panel discussions with national and international experts, and a dedicated “Ask the Minister” session to deepen dialogue between producers and policymakers.

A large-scale exhibition of innovations is a centerpiece of the Samavesh, with around 208 stalls showcasing modern technologies in fish farming, bio-floc systems, livestock rearing, and dairy practices. Live demonstrations — from high-yield cross-bred cows to advanced poultry systems — are staged alongside attractions such as Murrah buffalo bulls, Punganur cows and Kankrej bulls, blending practical learning with engagement for attending farmers.

Chief Minister Majhi used the platform to reinforce Odisha’s push toward self-reliance in milk, meat, egg and fish production, launching or highlighting flagship programmes such as the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, which has reportedly boosted milk output by an additional 1.35 lakh litres in 18 months under targeted support for dairy farmers.

The conclave also incorporates recognition and awards for outstanding performance, with hundreds of top farmers and departmental officers felicitated for their contributions to the state’s fisheries and animal resources sectors. Complemented by cultural programmes, walkathons and extensive knowledge-sharing sessions, the Samavesh aims to marry traditional agricultural strengths with forward-looking innovations for long-term sector growth.
