Nova Dairy Bets Big on Malanpur Plant Expansion

Indian dairy processor Nova will invest Rs 300 million to lift capacity and strengthen its position in value-added dairy products.

Nova Dairy is planning to invest Rs 300 million in expanding its Malanpur facility in Madhya Pradesh, underlining the company’s confidence in rising demand for processed and value-added dairy products across India. The investment will be used to increase production capacity at the plant, which has become one of the company’s most important manufacturing hubs.

The Malanpur plant, which recently completed 25 years of operations, already handles around 1.2 million litres of milk per day and serves as a key production centre for butter, ghee, milk powder and other dairy ingredients. The latest expansion is expected to further improve throughput and allow the company to respond more quickly to growing demand from both retail and institutional buyers.

According to the company, the project will focus on increasing the facility’s manufacturing efficiency while maintaining product quality and food safety standards. Nova said the Malanpur unit is equipped with modern processing technology and has continually evolved to meet changing consumer preferences, especially for higher-value dairy categories.

The expansion comes as India’s dairy market continues to shift toward packaged, branded and protein-rich products. Nova believes stronger demand for nutritious and convenient dairy foods is creating room for additional capacity, particularly in northern and central India, where the company already has an established distribution network. Alongside Malanpur, the company also operates plants in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

For the wider dairy industry, the Malanpur investment highlights a broader trend of processors increasing capacity to secure milk supplies and capture growth in value-added dairy. As competition intensifies, companies are investing more heavily in scale, automation and product innovation to strengthen margins and improve long-term market share.
