The Gujarat govt has decided to adopt a new model for the audit of administrative and financial accounts of dairy co-operatives in the state.
The state govt announced on Wednesday that, to bring more transparency to the dairy cooperative sector, including the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and its member unions, the administrative and financial audit will be conducted through a new model.
Cooperatives minister Jagdish Vishwakarma said that under the guidance of Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, a new template has been approved for the audit. This aims to ensure continuity, transparency and a clear understanding of the true administrative and financial situation of institutions.
Providing details at the 41st meeting of the inspection and investigation committee, the minister said that, until now, the audit of dairy cooperatives was conducted according to the audit manual from the year 1983.
Over the last 42 years, due to the increase in the turnover of GCMMF and the milk producers’ unions, and other administrative reasons, it became necessary to change the template. “The new template for the administrative and financial account audit list has been prepared after receiving suggestions from retired officers of the department and accountancy firms,” he said.
The minister said the new model will benefit dairy farmers who are members of cooperatives.
