Malabar Milma has the perfect New Year gift for dairy farmers. In a regional union governing council meeting, it was decided to grant Rs 2.25 crores as extra to the farmers for the milk supply. Rs 75 lakhs will be allotted to them as cattle feed subsidy as well.

As per the decision, farmers under the ANAND-model dairy societies who supplied milk to the regional organisation from November 1st-30th this year adhering to the quality norms will get an additional rupee for every litre of their product. This in total will amount to Rs 2.25 crores.

The additional money will be transferred to the bank accounts of the respective dairy societies along with the payment for the supply of milk between December 21-31. The money shall be distributed among dairy farmers in six districts coming under the Malabar Milma lying across the Kasaragod-Palakad stretch. As per this, Milma would end up paying an average of Rs 46.44 to dairy societies for every litre of milk supplied to the federation during the month of September.

Milma chairman KS Mani said that additional money would be a small relief for the farmers to cover their rising production costs. He also informed that the Rs 100 subsidy that is being given on each sack of Gomathi Gold cattle feed weighing 50 kilograms since December will continue in January 2024 as well.
