Kerala’s leading dairy cooperative posted strong gains in milk procurement, sales and value-added products in FY2025-26.
Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, better known as Milma, delivered a strong financial performance in fiscal year 2025-26, with total turnover rising to ₹4,624.21 crore. The figure represents annual growth of 6.44%, up from ₹4,344.60 crore in the previous year, reinforcing Milma’s position as one of India’s fastest-growing dairy cooperatives.
The cooperative also expanded its raw milk base significantly. Average daily milk procurement climbed 12.89% to 1.26 million litres per day, while average daily milk sales increased 4.30% to more than 1.7 million litres. In comparison, Milma procured 1.11 million litres and sold 1.64 million litres per day during 2024-25.
One of the strongest growth drivers came from value-added dairy products. Sales turnover in categories such as yogurt, butter, cheese and other processed dairy products reached ₹1,097.36 crore, a jump of 15.94% from the previous year’s ₹946.47 crore. The performance highlights a broader shift within India’s dairy sector toward higher-margin products and branded dairy consumption.
Milma’s three regional unions all contributed to the expansion. The Malabar union led milk procurement with 683,503 litres per day, followed by Ernakulam at 293,351 litres and Thiruvananthapuram at 280,039 litres. Malabar also recorded the strongest turnover growth at 8.88%, ahead of Thiruvananthapuram at 6.87% and Ernakulam at 5.91%.
Milma Chairman K.S. Mani said the cooperative is now targeting turnover of ₹10,000 crore by 2030. According to the federation, farmer welfare schemes, quality improvements and support programs have been central to its growth strategy. Milma also emphasized that 92.5% of its profits last year were returned directly to dairy farmers, underlining its cooperative model and focus on sustainable dairy development in Kerala.
