Kunnamangalam: Malabar Milma has announced Rs 15 crore for additional milk procured and fodder subsidies for dairy farmers, as approved in a recent meeting of the Malabar Region Union Governing Council. This initiative is expected to benefit 1 lakh dairy farmers in the Malabar region.

Additionally, the Malabar Regional Union will provide an additional Rs 1 per litre to farmers for milk produced in April, May, October, November, and December of 2024. Farmers supplying high-quality milk through Anand model dairies will also see an increase in the price from Rs 45.93 to Rs 46.93 per litre.

From November 2024 to March 2025, the union will offer Milma Gomati Gold fodder at Rs 150 per 50 kg bag and TMR feed in pellet form, produced by Malabar Milma’s own company, MRDF. The fodder and TMR feeds will also receive a Rs 1 per kg subsidy. As a result, the dairy farmers will receive Rs 6 crore in additional assistance. This subsidy aims to support milk production, reduce costs, and strengthen the three-tier dairy cooperative sector.

So far, Malabar Milma has allocated Rs 27.20 crore as additional milk price support and fodder subsidies for the 2024-25 fiscal year. With the latest Rs 15 crore addition, the total allocation of Malabar Milma reaches Rs 42.20 crore.
