Community leaders call on Industries Department to allocate land for dairy farm operators to boost milk production infrastructure.
The All Jammu & Kashmir Jatt Sabha has formally appealed to the Industries Department of the Jammu Region to allocate dedicated plots of land for dairy farm operators, spotlighting infrastructure gaps that hinder local dairy development. The call comes amid broader efforts by community leaders to support agricultural and dairy enterprises in the Union Territory.
At a meeting held in Rampur Mohalla, Nai Basti near Satwari Chowk in Jammu, Sabha President S. Manjit Singh and Youth Wing District President Shivam Choudhary urged authorities to secure land parcels where dairy operators can establish facilities for milk production, processing and allied services. The request is part of a local push to formalize and expand milk supply chains in the region.
Leaders emphasized that without access to designated industrial plots, small and medium-scale dairy entrepreneurs struggle to invest confidently in farm infrastructure, chilling units, milk collection centres or value-added processing units. Such limitations, they argued, also affect job creation and long-term dairy sector growth prospects in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Sabha’s appeal reflects ongoing grassroots advocacy for public-sector support to dairy value chains, aligning with broader national conversations about empowering producers and enhancing rural agribusiness ecosystems. Allocating land for dairy operations could improve logistics for farmers, processors and distributors by centralizing production hubs.
For international dairy stakeholders—especially analysts and investors monitoring emerging markets—the move highlights how land access and industrial policy remain critical enabling factors for dairy sector expansion. Successful land allotment could catalyse new investment, improve milk throughput and support regional dairy processing capacity.
