Jaipur Raid Exposes 700kg Fake Paneer Supply Ring
In a major action against adulterated food items in Jaipur, Jawahar Nagar police station seized more than 700 kg of fake paneer on Saturday.

Food safety officials in Rajasthan destroyed a massive stock of adulterated paneer destined for retailers across Jaipur.

Authorities in Jaipur have seized and destroyed 700kg of adulterated paneer during a major crackdown on food fraud in Rajasthan’s dairy sector. The operation was carried out under the state’s “Shuddh Aahar, Milawat Par Vaar” campaign, which targets the growing trade in fake and contaminated food products. Officials say the paneer was discovered during an inspection of a warehouse in the Bhatta Basti area of Shastri Nagar.

The raid was conducted at a facility known as Barsana Paneer Bhandar, where food safety officers found the entire stock ready for distribution. Rajasthan Food Safety Commissioner T. Shubhamangala said the paneer was immediately destroyed on-site to prevent it from entering the market. Samples were also collected under the Food Safety and Standards Act and sent for laboratory testing.

According to investigators, the paneer had been sourced from Alwar and was being supplied to retailers in Jaipur at prices ranging from Rs200 to Rs220 per kilogram. The owner of the business, identified as Mustaq, allegedly admitted during questioning that the product was adulterated. Authorities believe the lower-cost supply chain was intended to profit from strong demand for paneer among local traders and consumers.

The case highlights a wider concern for India’s dairy industry, where food adulteration continues to threaten consumer confidence and the reputation of dairy products. Paneer is one of the country’s fastest-growing fresh dairy categories, widely used by restaurants, foodservice operators and households. Repeated cases of fake paneer entering urban markets are increasing pressure on regulators to tighten oversight and improve traceability across dairy supply chains.

Officials said further legal action will depend on the results of the laboratory analysis. The latest seizure underscores the growing scale of food safety enforcement in Rajasthan, where regulators are intensifying inspections ahead of periods of higher dairy consumption. For dairy processors and retailers, the incident is another reminder that stronger quality control systems are becoming essential across India’s dairy market.
