India and Israel strengthen fisheries, aquaculture and dairy cooperation with tech exchange, sustainability and blue economy focus at 2026 summit.
India–Israel Deepen Dairy & Fisheries Tech Ties
The Second Global Summit on “Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026”, was held in Eilat, Israel

Blue Economy pact at “Sea the Future 2026” fosters joint aquaculture, dairy R&D, sustainable innovation and global food security cooperation.

At the Second Global Summit on “Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026” in Eilat, Israel, India and Israel reinforced bilateral ties in fisheries, aquaculture, and dairy sector cooperation, marking a strategic expansion of their longstanding agricultural partnership. A high-level Indian delegation participated in discussions and formal engagements aimed at driving technology and knowledge exchange across aquatic and animal-based food systems.

Central to the summit outcomes was the Joint Ministerial Declaration of Intent signed by India’s Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. This declaration sets a framework for collaboration in advanced aquaculture technologies, sustainable fishing practices and capacity building, with implications for boosting productivity and enhancing food security goals for both countries.

The cooperation agenda prioritizes technology transfer and innovation across multiple fronts: from recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and biofloc technology to cage culture, mariculture, aquaponics and seaweed cultivation. Joint research, startup exchanges, and infrastructure development are expected to accelerate adaptive solutions tailored to diverse marine and inland environments, supporting resilient supply chains and export-oriented growth.

In dairy and livestock realms, India and Israel’s engagement builds on a broader bilateral agricultural partnership that historically includes CoEs and research collaborations. Shared priorities include improving animal husbandry practices and dairy production efficiencies through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and potentially new initiatives that draw from Israel’s precision dairy technologies and India’s large-scale production systems.

Officials underscored the broader “blue economy” opportunity, where sustainable fisheries, aquaculture innovation, and dairy integration contribute to nutritional security and rural livelihoods. Enhanced trade linkages, innovation ecosystems, and cooperative research platforms are positioned as drivers of mutual economic benefit within global food markets, aligning with both countries’ commitments to sustainable development goals.
