State leaders spotlight modern dairy infrastructure and rural empowerment during high-profile visit to Palanpur facilities.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat made a comprehensive inspection of Banas Dairy’s advanced production units in Palanpur, highlighting the cooperative’s pivotal role in empowering livestock rearers and dairy farmers across Banaskantha district. Accompanied by Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and State Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, the governor toured cheese, paneer and milk processing plants, underlining the dairy’s modern technologies and quality control systems that link rural producers to robust value-added operations.
Officials briefed the visiting dignitaries on operational workflows and the economic benefits extended to farmers through cooperative revenue sharing and technology adoption. Governor Devvrat lauded the cooperative model for fostering self-reliance among producers and contributing to rural economic strength, reinforcing how collective action in milk production and processing can anchor livelihoods in agrarian regions.
Local leaders emphasized Banas Dairy’s role as a keystone of regional development. Speaker Chaudhary noted that continuous expansion and innovation within the cooperative have generated stable incomes and employment opportunities for cattle rearers, while Minister Vaghani stressed the synergy of modern technologies and cooperative principles driving Gujarat’s dairy sector forward. These remarks position Banas Dairy as a replicable model for scale-up in other dairy communities.
The governor’s tour extended beyond dairy plants to the Banas Dairy food complex at Badarpura, where he inspected oil mill and grain processing units, reviewing production standards and job creation impact. He also visited a traditional Ayurvedic livestock medicine unit, acknowledging efforts to bolster animal health protection, a priority for maintaining productivity and reducing disease risk among dairy animals.
In addition, Devvrat observed the THR nutrition unit supplying meals to anganwadi centers and the Honey Facility Centre, emphasizing opportunities to enhance rural incomes through honey processing and quality testing. A stop at the potato tissue culture lab showcased initiatives to produce high-quality seeds with modern tech, aimed at lowering cultivation costs and boosting farmer profitability — a broad view of Banas Dairy’s integration of agri-food diversification.
