The Kolhapur Jilha Dudh Sahakari Sangh, popularly known as Gokul dairy, has introduced a new brand of pouched milk called “Gokul Shatki” with children and elders being the target group.
The milk will currently be sold in Mumbai and Pune markets.
The new brand is bio-fortified with the two major vitamins — C and D. Arun Dongale, chairman of Gokul dairy, said, “Gokul Shakti has a fat content of 4.1 while the solid but not fat (SNF) levels is 9.2.
These are important for building muscles. The fortification is being carried out to cater to the growing needs of the kids and elders. We are using cow milk to prepare the new brand.”
He added, “The milk is prepared through a homogenous process that makes it long lasting.”
Gokul dairy collects more than 13 lakh litre of milk from the farmers on a daily basis.
It is the largest cooperative dairy in the state and recently started introducing new products to compete against other major dairies such as Amul (Gujarat) and Nandini (Karnataka).
