This will be the first-of-its-kind in the Kumaon region of the state and will provide a much-needed solution to the issue of timely milk powder supply to the anganwadi centres in the region. The plant will be constructed on the Kichha bypass near Aanchal Pashu Aahar Nirmanshala.

According to assistant director of dairy department, Rajendra Chauhan, the milk powder that is currently being supplied to the anganwadi centres in the Kumaon region is sourced from Dehradun and often arrives late, causing inconvenience to the centres and the children they serve. “The milk powder processed in the plant will be packaged and supplied to all the anganwadi centres in the Kumaon region, providing a much-needed boost to the nutritional needs of the children. The plant will also generate employment for the residents, thereby contributing to the local economy. We aim to manufacture different flavours of milk powder, like chocolate, sugar, vanilla, elaichi and strawberry, providing a variety of options to the children,” he said.

Local BJP MLA Shiv Arora said, “Our government is coming up with new projects to develop the state in all aspects. The new milk powder processing plant is a part of this initiative. It will go a long way in improving the nutritional status of children in the area, ensuring smooth functioning and a timely supply. This will also serve as a model for similar initiatives in other regions, and it is hoped that such initiatives will become the norm.”
