The award recognizes Danone Indonesia’s efforts to help provide people access to clean water. These efforts include the construction of clean water infrastructure in Bongkasa Pertiwi village, Bali back in 2011. Clean water has now reached the homes of everyone in the village.

“In line with our vision, One Planet One Health, Danone-Aqua is always committed to having a positive impact on consumers, the environment and communities. One of them is through community empowerment initiatives that we carry out together with the village-owned enterprises [BUMDes] in Bongkasa Pertiwi,” Danone Indonesia’s VP general secretary Vera Galuh Sugijanto was quoted as saying in a press statement.

Bongkasa Pertiwi has now become one of the popular tourist villages in Bali. The area was also one of the destinations for delegates to the G20 Summit in 2022, as an example of a successful community-based environmental management program.

Danone Indonesia’s corporate communications director Arif Mujahidin said that the company encourages the development of social programs, especially those based on environmental preservation. This is in line with the company’s dual commitment to achieving success in the business sector while also actively contributing to the environment and local communities.

“Maintaining and managing water sources so that they remain clean and sustainable is one of our efforts to actively participate in improving the quality of life of the community in a sustainable manner,” Arif said.

Transmedia’s director Latif Harnoko symbolically handed over the award to I Ketut Muwaranata, the head of the Aqua Mambal factory in Bali. Badung regent I Nyoman Giri Prasta and Attorney General ST Burhanuddin were present.

Apart from building clean water infrastructure, Danone Indonesia –in partnership with BUMDes Mandala Sari, Bongkasa Pertiwi Village Government, Rumah Energi Foundation and non-governmental organizations — has also built 44 biogas units from animal waste.

Danone is also providing training and assistance for human capital development. The participants will then contribute to the development of healthy agriculture covering an area of 1.95 hectares for food security as well as the development of agricultural tourism.
