
The state-of-the-art dairy engineering facility, built over a 5,704 square metre area on the proposed campus of Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna, is ready for inauguration.
Officials from the building construction department stated that the civil work was completed, while the finishing work is underway. The four-storey building is equipped with modern facilities and laboratories, including a dairy process engineering lab, a food engineering lab, and a computer lab. Additionally, a workshop and four seminar halls have been constructed.
Kumar Ravi, secretary of the BCD, said that the construction of BASU was being carried out in phases. “The construction of the dairy engineering facility is complete and will be inaugurated soon. The building is equipped with modern technology and the latest equipment, providing excellent facilities for research and training to students and researchers. It will be a milestone in the development of the dairy sector,” he said.
He further mentioned that the construction work on the university campus was progressing rapidly. “Facilities for housing both students and scientists are being developed at the university, with focus on green building features,” Ravi said. The secretary added: “An indoor and outdoor sports complex is also being constructed on the campus. Continuous monitoring and site inspections are being conducted at the departmental level to ensure quality and timely completion of construction work.”
The construction of BASU is taking place on a 224.53-acre plot on the Bihar Veterinary College campus. It includes administrative and academic buildings, a teaching veterinary clinical complex, an auditorium with a capacity of 1,200 people, a farmer training centre, separate hostels for 350 male students and 150 female students, accommodation for 50 scientists, a Vice Chancellor’s residence, 222 residential flats of various categories of staff, and a university guest house, among other facilities.
