Banas Dairy chief gets Inamdar award

The prestigious Laxmanrao Inamdar Award for the white revolution achieved by Banas Dairy was conferred on Banas Dairy chairman and speaker of the Gujarat legislative assembly Shankar Chaudhary, as the three-day 8th National Conference of Sahakar Bharati got off to a flying start in Amritsar.

The event was inaugurated by the organization’s national president, Deenanath Thakur, and national general Secretary, Dr Uday Joshi, at the Railway ground in Amritsar on Friday.

The event began with the hoisting of the cooperation flag. The inaugural session was graced by the chief guest, speaker of the Gujarat legislative assembly, Shankar Chaudhary.

Deenanath Thakur honoured Chaudhary with the revered Laxmanrao Inamdar Award for the white revolution achieved by Banas Dairy.

In his address, Chaudhary said this was a proud day for him. “Sahakar Bharati has honoured the cooperative model of Banas Dairy. This is the honour of millions of cattle farmers associated with Banas Dairy. This honour belongs to the herdsmen of Banas. This honour given by Sahakar Bharati will inspire me and the herdsmen of Banas to do further good work. I assure you that Banas Dairy will work for the country’s welfare in the future,” he said.

A special exhibition on Sahakar Bharati was inaugurated at the convention. Social worker and former ambassador of India Taranjit Singh was also present. More than 2,500 cooperative leaders from across the country are participating in the event.
