Tamil Nadu’s dairy cooperative keeps the RS Puram counter running as customers struggle to renew monthly milk cards online.
Aavin has decided to keep its manual renewal counter open in Coimbatore after customers reported technical problems with the cooperative’s online portal. The issue affected the renewal of monthly milk cards, prompting the dairy cooperative to maintain in-person services at its RS Puram outlet.
The decision follows complaints from consumers who were unable to renew their April milk cards through the digital platform. Earlier this year, Aavin had shut manual counters in Gandhipuram, Ramanathapuram and Sundarapuram as part of a wider digitalisation strategy introduced in January 2025.
The problem gained attention after a Coimbatore customer said he was unable to renew his milk card for the first time since joining the service. Following media coverage, district authorities requested an explanation from Aavin, leading senior marketing officials to visit the customer directly and review the complaint.
Aavin officials said the RS Puram centre would continue to operate manually while the portal issue is being fixed. The cooperative also confirmed that the technical fault would be resolved soon, ensuring customers can again access the online system without disruption.
The Monthly Milk Card scheme remains an important tool for regular consumers, offering a discount of 50 paise on every half-litre of milk and ₹1 on one-litre purchases, in addition to home delivery. With the portal malfunction preventing renewals, many consumers were forced to buy milk at regular retail prices and travel to stores to secure their daily supply.
