Nestlé Pakistan Climate Champion Again at OICCI Awards

Multinational dairy and food giant wins top sustainability honor for second straight year, underscoring Net Zero, regenerative agriculture and circular economy leadership.

Nestlé Pakistan has been awarded the Climate Champion Award at the 4th Pakistan Climate Conference, hosted by the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), marking the second consecutive year the company secured this top honor. The recognition highlights its commitment to climate action, Net Zero targets, regenerative agriculture and circularity — key pillars of its environmental stewardship strategy.

The OICCI Climate Excellence Awards, now in their second edition, drew more than 80 entries from multinational companies spanning 30 countries and 14 sectors, reflecting growing corporate engagement in climate leadership across Pakistan’s private sector.

Government leaders at the conference emphasized the urgency of collaborative climate solutions. Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change, called for targeted investment and youth-driven innovation to accelerate Pakistan’s shift to a climate-resilient economy, while the Federal Minister for Finance highlighted enhanced climate financing access from global institutions.

Nestlé Pakistan’s CEO, Jason Avanceña, reaffirmed the company’s sustainability agenda, detailing a planned USD 100 million investment over six years — including an additional USD 60 million announced at Davos — to drive green projects, agricultural service transformation, automation and digitalization in Pakistan.

Under its global Net Zero commitments, Nestlé aims to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050, with local initiatives already achieving more than a 50% reduction versus 2018 levels. Other sustainability milestones include scaling solar and biomass energy, cutting virgin plastic by one-third, and advancing large-scale packaging waste recycling aligned with UN SDGs.
