Frieswal cattle, developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), is a remarkable crossbreed resulting from the genetic combination of Holstein Friesian and Sahiwal. This unique blend endows the cattle with a superior milk yield, while also inheriting crucial traits like heat tolerance and disease resistance. The government’s plan involves expanding the production and distribution of Frieswal cattle across the state. A key component of this strategy includes maintaining a substantial herd of at least 90 Frieswal cattle at the dedicated cattle breeding farm located in Copardem, Sattari. This centralized breeding effort will serve as a hub for propagating these high-performing animals, making them more accessible to local dairy producers eager to enhance their herds.

To ensure the successful propagation and widespread adoption of Frieswal cattle, the ICAR and AHVS are engaged in a collaborative effort.
