Among the new initiatives, Shah announced the launch of a National Cooperative Export Society and a Cooperative Reforms Scheme. These measures aim to expand market access for dairy and other cooperative products, reduce dependency on subsidies, and streamline operations across India’s vast cooperative network. The reforms reflect the government’s strategy to reposition cooperatives as drivers of rural economic growth.

One of the highlights of the event was the inauguration of new facilities at Amul, India’s largest dairy brand. These include a fully automated chocolate plant and an expanded milk processing unit, enhancing Amul’s capacity to meet rising domestic and export demands. Shah praised Amul as a model cooperative, noting its success in empowering farmers and contributing to national food security.

The minister also emphasized the importance of value addition in the dairy sector and urged cooperatives to adopt technology and innovation. He reiterated that India’s cooperative framework—rooted in collective ownership—can serve as a powerful vehicle for inclusive development. Shah stated that reforms will ensure transparent governance, professional management, and access to global markets.
